Hi Magan,

You refreshed my memories of first visit to Singapore. Its my third home :D. They call it very rightly - Singapore is a 'Fine' City.. and I bought a t shirt too that says that. I guess the sequel to this piece should be the 'Must Do' and be nice and fine run down of good things. I do not know if you have come across this, but the Singaporeans take great pleasure in flocking and gathering at the accident sites to jot down the numbers from num plates of the crashed cars to play pot or lottery of some sorts to bring luck to themselves ;).. they truly believe in this. More than anything you would like C.H.I.J.M.E.S.. and the Civilisation Musuem... a must visit if you haven't yet.

Hi Magan

Great to know you had a great time here. This wonderful city also has an awesome library network! I wish you had had the time to check out at least the National Library and the one at Esplanade. They are amazing.

Dear Wanying,
your little treasure trove of sites is really very good. This is the kind of stuff us non-locals need to log into to truly experience this lovely island country...thanks again...
(PS. your comments somehow went into my spam first hence it took time to retrieve both. All ok now :-))

No doubt, it's a very well crafted post Magan. Don't know whether you took a trip and visited the famous places like:
1. Esplanade Theatre on the Bay
2. East Coast Park
3. Singapore Botanic Garden
4. A ride on Singapore Flyer, on the Marina Bay itself(It is dubbed as the world's tallest Ferris wheel at 540 feet).
Hope you must've had the soup dumplings, popiah spring rolls &spicy Malay coconut milk from Paragon Mall (located on the Esplanade Mall).

Australia, seems that things will take some time to settle down.

Thank you!
The food courts, the hawker centres of Singapore are truly a culture of their own, I agree. My personal favourite was/is Lau Pa Sat in the CBD.
As for the Jumbo crab mess, comes with the flavour, don't you think!? :-)
Next, soon, should be Australia although, given the current instances of brutal racial violence, I can't say I am not discouraged.
cheers!

One of your better posts Magan. I wish you'd spoken more about the local HDB food courts and their cuisine. The most underrated and ignored species of Food and Beverage service Asia has seen.

Glad you mentioned the Chilli Crab at Jumbo. The mess you make along with it is also a part of the experience. Maybe you can mention it in you 10 things to DO at Singapore. :)
